Salmon on hold until September, tuna next: a June 2025 update from Half Moon Bay
Capt. Scott Dipman ·

On June 23, 2025, Capt. Scott Dipman posted a short season update on the Fish Reapers Sportfishing Instagram. The caption reads: salmon is on hold till September. Time to prepare for tuna.
That is the whole message, and it tells anglers what to expect out of Half Moon Bay. The salmon trips pause for the summer and pick back up in September, and in the meantime the boat gets ready for tuna.
The photo that goes with the post shows what getting ready looks like. Four rods and reels hang in a row on a wall, each reel wrapped in a navy cover, with more rods racked along the left side. This is the gear side of the job, done well before anyone steps aboard.
Fish Reapers fishes out of Pillar Point Harbor on a 31-foot North River. The Salmon trip is an 8-hour day. The tuna trips on the menu, Albacore and Bluefin, are full days offshore of about 10 hours.
The post does not give tuna dates or say when the first trip will run, so for the current schedule call (650) 444-9226 or check the booking page.
