Fresh salmon fillet from Half Moon Bay, October 2025

On October 15, 2025, the Fish Reapers Sportfishing Instagram put up a photo with a one-word caption: salmon, with an exclamation point.

The photo shows why. A big, deep orange salmon fillet lies on white paper, with the fine lines of the flesh showing along its full length.

Fish Reapers is run by Capt. Scott Dipman out of Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay, and salmon is one of the main trips on the menu. The salmon trip is an 8-hour day on a 31-foot North River with room for up to six guests.

The post does not say who caught the fish, how big it was or how many came aboard, so we are keeping this report to what is on the page: it was salmon season out of Half Moon Bay, and there was salmon to show for it.
